Welcome to the Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) of Siliguri Institute of Technology.

Siliguri Institute of Technology (SIT), established under the visionary leadership of the Techno India Group, is one of the leading Engineering and Management institutions in North Bengal. The institute is committed to providing quality education while fostering a culture of innovation, creativity, and entrepreneurship among its students and faculty members.

In alignment with the vision of the Ministry of Education's Innovation Cell (MIC), Government of India, our Institution's Innovation Council (IIC) has been established to create a vibrant innovation ecosystem within the campus. The Council serves as a catalyst for nurturing innovative ideas, encouraging entrepreneurial thinking, and transforming creative concepts into practical solutions, prototypes, startups, and socially impactful innovations.

At SIT, we believe that innovation is not merely an activity but a mindset that empowers individuals to identify challenges and develop meaningful solutions. Through the IIC, we strive to inspire and support young minds by providing opportunities for ideation, experimentation, mentorship, and industry interaction.

The primary objectives of our IIC are:

• To create a vibrant local innovation ecosystem within the institute.
• To establish a strong startup-support mechanism for students and faculty members.
• To prepare the institute for excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives, including participation in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) and similar frameworks.
• To develop a functional ecosystem for scouting innovative ideas and facilitating their pre-incubation and incubation.
• To enhance the creative, analytical, and cognitive abilities of students.
• To encourage interdisciplinary collaboration and problem-solving through innovation-driven projects.

To achieve these objectives, the IIC actively undertakes a wide range of activities, including:

• Conducting innovation, intellectual property rights (IPR), entrepreneurship, and startup-related programs as prescribed by MIC.
• Identifying, recognizing, and rewarding innovative projects and sharing success stories.
• Organizing workshops, seminars, expert lectures, startup interactions, and mentorship sessions with entrepreneurs, investors, academicians, and industry professionals.
• Building networks with peer institutions, innovation centers, incubation hubs, and national entrepreneurship development organizations.
• Maintaining an Innovation Portal to showcase the innovative projects, research outcomes, patents, and entrepreneurial achievements of our students and faculty members.
• Organizing hackathons, idea competitions, innovation challenges, and industry-driven problem-solving events to encourage practical learning and creativity.

Our vision is to empower students to become innovators, entrepreneurs, researchers, and responsible leaders capable of contributing to technological advancement and societal development. I encourage every student and faculty member to actively participate in the activities of the Institution's Innovation Council and make the most of the opportunities available through this platform.
